Elvis Aaron Presly was born on January 8, 1935 and died on August 16, 1977. He died at the age of 42 because he was using drugs. He was born in Memphis, Tennesee. He was a singer and an actor. He played the guitar and the piano. He would record songs in the rock and roll genre. Some of his most famous songs are "Hound Dog" and Jailhouse Bird". Elvis Presly was known all over the world and was soon a big hit. His 'musical influences' came mostly from when he was younger his family went to a church Assembly of god, a pentecostal holiness church.

His firt public performance took place in the year of 1954. His musical 'breakthrough' took place in 1956 only two years after he first started playing. Several top record labels wanted to sign Presly, but instead on November 21, 1955 Parker and Philips negotiated with RCA Victor Records to sign Elvis' contract. He also got 35,000 to go along with that.

On Janurary 27, Elvis' first single with the RCA 'heartbreak hotel' was released it sold over 1 million copies. And then on March 23 his first record was released.
